General Information
For 60 years AIPA has been serving Arizona's student journalists and their advisers.All advisers and publications are encouraged to join AIPA and to involve their journalists in the many exciting events available to them from this valuable organization.

Membership
All schools, regardless of size or location, are encouraged to join AIPA and participate in its events and activities. Junior high schools and middle schools and organizations are also encouraged to join.
Membership runs from Sept. 1, 2008 through Aug. 31, 2009.

Benefits
=Participating in the Fall and Spring Contests. You must be a member to enter.

Attending Fall Convention, Spring Convention and Adviser Jump Start at a discounted price.
=Attending Summer Workshop. You must be a member to attend.
=Members have voting privileges.
=Meeting and networking with other advisers and student journalists.

Members can serve on the AIPA Board of Directors.

Board Members:
AIPA board members serve for two-year terms. Each year half of the board is elected to office. Elections are held in the spring. See Article 3 of the Bylaws for officer duties.

Censorship Statement
Freedom of the press is basic to the preservation of a democratic society. AIPA firmly supports students' rights to freedom of the press and will continue working toward the goal of releasing student journalism from the bonds of censorship.

Mission Statement
=Opposing the censorship of student expression in any form.
=Increasing networking among advisers throughout the state.
=Helping journalism teachers and advisers in the development of instructional materials.
=Recognizing and rewarding outstanding journalism advisers and students.
=Encouraging journalism teachers and advisers to increase their professional awareness through their membership in AIPA.
=Sponsoring student journalism contests, awards and recognition.
=Providing annual scholastic journalism conventions and workshops.
=Providing scholarships for summer workshop and other journalism studies.
=Informing the membership of he man opportunities for minority journalism students provided by state universities and community colleges.
=Encouraging AIPA members to support Scholastic Journalism Week.
=Expanding AIPA's liaison work with the state media, yearbook companies and other professional organizations.
